Kyou wa... Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine's Day... although that's pretty obvious. ==

Like Christmas, Valentine's Day is another pointless thing to celebrate. ...and they're actually celebrating the death of this random priest guy called St. Valentine by giving people stuff. xP (I think it's hilarious...)

But I can't complain too much otherwise it'll seem like I dislike it simply because I don't get anything. :P

This morning I went to school, totally forgetting that it was Valentine's (death) Day until my friend said "Happy Valentine's Day" to me.
And I was then hit with a sense of dread. It... is Valentine's (death) Day.
Meh. ==

You see, at our school, there's this campaign/event thing for Valentine's (death) Day. We can buy "chocolate roses" for whatever-the-hell-dollars, give them the name of the person we want to send it to, and then they'll deliver to our first period classroom.
My friend brought one for me, and this delivery was what I was dreading.
Getting my name called out loud to get a Valentine's (although friendship) chocolate is NOT something I want to happen.
But it happened anyway.
I endured the two-seconds-long attention pretty well. :)

Every time Valentine's (death) day rolls around, I have this friend who'd always go, "Crossing my fingers... I hope that I won't get any Valentine's chocolate."
And I'd raised my eyebrows at her. So you think you'd get Valentine's chocolates...
My two friends used to like her ("used to" being the keyword), but even if they still do, they weren't exactly the type to buy her chocolates. == What was she expecting, really?

Anyway, the point of this post was to relay what happened on this year's Valentine's (death) Day.

All the other girls are ridiculously, pointlessly, unreasonably, and annoyingly excited, too. ==
...What's with them?

  1. Well....we celebrate Easter - and that's Jesus's death, right?
I think that Valentines day is to celebrate and to remember St.Valentine. (He must of been some sort of love sait?) They could of chosen his birthdate, but for whatever reason they chose his death date. I suppose they the two most important dates in ones life, and are used as a sort opportunity to have a day of remembrance for those important lucky people. Of course since time as passed, all this days (Valentines, Christmas, Easter) have been commercialised to a point that what ever the holiday was originally celebrated for seems a bit off and weird.
Maybe when the holidays were first created, perhaps the events they participated in were more related to the death or the birth of the person.
Phew..that's just my opinion, don't take it for granted :P

Ohh...lookies at this; the two major holidays in which we celebrate deaths are involved in chocolate....hmmmmm..(Easter and Valentines.)

However, with 'Happy Valentines Day, we also say 'Happy Easter,' and 'Merry Christmas'.....I don't think it means anything to special or amazing, probably just some commercial catch phrase from some American company.... :) But hey, for the people who do really do the whole God and Saint thing, maybe they mean that it should be a happy day to remember all the good things that these people did when they were alive. :)

The chocolate roses were really really yummy....And I hope you know that I will continue to buy you a rose until we graduate :) Because you are loved <3

Yeah...the name calling thing is pretty scary...luckily I didn't have to endure it today....:P

Oh....everyone was pretty hyper this morning :) I think when someone starts acting all hyper, then everyone else usually just follows along, not really knowing that they are :P Or maybe we all went sugar high from E-chan's delicious chocolate coated shortbread cookies~

    1. YOU celebreate Easter, yes. ==
I should've said, English people celebrates too much... wait, I can talk. I heard Thais celebrates a lot, too. :/ ...um, apparently.

      ...?
Well, of course. It was celebrated to remember St. Valentine. And of course, as time passed, things change. BTW, I think St. Valentine died in prison... or something like that. ==
...Apparently, according to a certain shruken detective, it's a "very sad story".

Many people do pointless things. ("Living" included)

And that's celebrating Valentine's, Easter and Christmas included.

Maybe all of my despising Valentine and Christmas and stuff is because of my increasing pessimism and depression, which is steadily increasing my dislike towards Australia....
