The other day one of my friends said to me, "What are you going to do for your 16th birthday?"
Me; "...Nothing." I gave up celebrating my birthday a few years ago, anyways. And she should have known this, but then again I can't expect her to remember everything I say, especially since during conversations she regularly forgets things that I'd said less a minute earlier... it happens so often I should really be used to it by now. ==
Her; "Nothing? Nothing at all??"
Me; "...Most probably."
Her; "But it's your sixteenth birthday! SIXTEENth!"
Me; "...Of course." If I wasn't my sixteenth birthday on my sixteenth birthday, then which birthday would it be??
Another friend passes by, "What's that you two're talking about?"
She turned to this new friend excitedly, "What are you going to do for Sweet Sixteen?"
Me; "..." ..."Sweet" sixteen? Oh my, they even created a special name/alliteration for it? First time I've heard of the term, too. But they're talking like it's something totally commonly known, so it must be a teenager thing. Yeah, I can just tell. Sixteen somehow appears to be quite an important age, too? Oh, wait, come to think about it, it sort of is... But nevertheless, birthday parties are purely wasteful, in my opinions, no matter what age you turn. Besides, in the first place, I don't even like parties...
Other friend; "I don't know. I haven't really thought about it... mine's still a year and a half away."
First friend; "Oh." Pause. "Well! I'M GOING to..." etc.
I'd already tuned out of the conversation since at that moment in time I had been reading a particularly awesome book.
